Risk Warning

risk warning

Trading foreign exchange and contracts for difference with leverage carries a high risk of loss and is not suitable for most people. Crypto assets are highly volatile, are not covered by deposit guarantee schemes in most jurisdictions, and can lose all of their value. Do not commit money you cannot afford to lose entirely.

The published base rate

Regulated CFD providers are required to publish the percentage of retail accounts that lose money. Among the five brokers reviewed on this site, the figures they publish themselves range from 57.9 per cent to 79.6 per cent. Assume that range applies to you until several hundred of your own trades say otherwise.

Nothing on this site is advice

  • 01All content here is general information about how markets, venues and products work. It does not take account of your objectives, finances or circumstances.
  • 02No article, table or tool is a recommendation to buy, sell, hold, or to use or avoid any named firm.

About the figures

Numbers on this site are taken from primary sources on a stated date and are illustrative of a mechanism rather than a promise about outcomes. Fees, licences, leverage caps and product availability change frequently. Confirm every figure with the provider before relying on it.

Crypto specifics

An exchange balance is normally a claim on a company rather than a holding in your own name. Lending, staking and earn products transfer your asset to a counterparty in exchange for a yield, and that counterparty can fail. Proof of reserves is a snapshot of assets and does not by itself establish solvency.

If losses are affecting your life. Trading losses cause real financial and personal harm. If they are touching your housing, your debts or your health, contact a regulated debt advice service in your country and speak to someone you trust. That is a better next step than another position.
